Naeema's Story

She was burnt by her husband some 2 yrs back in Rawalpindi, in the heart of the city, but he escaped. 

He was an alcoholic who was a wife abuser.   She used to be abused, the 3 baby children would be crying for milk, warm or summer clothes.  Instead of providing food and the basic necessities of life for the children he was an addict and a womanizer.   

Naseema started to earn her children’s living by herself by sewing and stitching neighbor’s clothes and work as a realtor.  She earned a decent living.

She had filed for the divorce, on the day of the incident he came as usual demanding money for his alcohol and hashish.   Naseema only had the money for her daughter’s school admission, but she refused to give it to him.  Mad with anger he came later and sat down quietly. As soon as the children lay down to sleep, he came to her bed and threw acid on her. She was screaming in pain.  When the children saw her burning and her pieces of flesh falling off, they yelled out, and he flew out the door.  Within no time the house was full of neighbors ……but her life was already ruined!

PWA and Crisis centre helped this woman to pass her time as she has 3 children.  Her body is mutilated, and she has to have several operations.  She has lost her eye sight…
