The Mission of the Progressive Women's Association
P.W.A. is a voluntary non-government, apolitical organization formed in 1986.

To advocate for women's rights violations
To fight discriminatory laws against women
To provide and encourage political empowerment for women
To expose hidden domestic violence against women
To evolve strategies for the empowerment of women
Why the Progressive Women's Association  is needed:
Too often domestic violence is dismissed as a private matter.

u Abuse, battering, "Honor Killings", Karo Kari, Quranic marriages and the bartering of women are common place and accepted in parts of Pakistan.
u We strive to curb the alarming increase in violence against women and girls in the name of traditions and customs.
u We arbor the lack of a legal or social support system for the destitute women who are the victims of violence and distress.
u We protest against the callous disregard of the civil society and the apathy of  the justice system faced by her.
Our Mission is to create a gender sensitized society by extending practical support and protection.

We vow to "Break the Silence" of this violence against women by bringing dozens of critical violence cases from the grassroots of the country to national and international forums.

We are creating a country-wide accountability system by facilitating trials and making sure they are covered by the media.
